PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM
SETEC Hidrobrasileira is honored to participate and contribute towards the Reconstruction and Preservation of the National Public Heritage – THE NATIONAL MUSEUM – (created on 6th of June 1818, and being the first museum in Brazil and the oldest institution of research and learning in the field of Natural and Anthropologic Sciences).
Setec was hired by UNESCO to :
- Manage the Reconstruction Projects of the National Museum;
- Manage the works for pre-consolidating and protecting objects integrated in Block 1 of the Paço de São Cristóvão palace and the Jardim das Princesas;
- Follow up of the works involving the façade, new roofing and ceilings, treatment of the masonry support walls;
- Manage the process for hiring and following up of the projects for Museography and Landscaping of the grounds, and for the building that accomodates the Museu Nacional of the UFRJ.
The works comprise two lots:
- LOT 1:
- Manage the technical project during the Basic Design phase, including a preliminary study and the initial drafts;
- Manage the job of protecting the objects that were saved after the fire; follow-up the restoration works of the façade, roofing, masonry walls, and ceilings.
- LOT 2:
- Manage the project during the Legal Design and Detailed Design steps of the technical project, covering the pre-implementation and the executive steps;
- Continue the follow-up of the works on the façade, roofing, masonry walls, and ceilings.
On August 31, 2019, the UFRJ, the MEC, the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES), the UNESCO, and the Fundação Vale joined together in a project “Museu Nacional Vive” (the museum lives), with the objective of rebuilding and restoring the Palácio de São Cristóvão and preparing it for holding new exhibitions.
