Setec Hidrobrasileira was hired by the FUSP foundation (Fundação de Apoio à Universidade de São Paulo) to manage the restoration and modernization works on the monument-building of the Ipiranga Museum’s, historic building, which is to be reopened to the public on the bicentennial celebration of Brazil’s independence in 2022.
Overall the building has approximately 16,260.63 m2, of which 8.351,87 m2 are existent and will be restored, and 7,908.76 m2 will be built for the expansion. The property is located in the Parque da Independência – Ipiranga, São Paulo – SP. Management of the works was hired to provide support in managing the engineering phases of the pre-works and the works as such.

ANALYSES AND VALIDATION OF THE DETAILED DESIGN AND BUDGET
- Analysis of the Technical Documentation supplied with regard to sufficiency, compatibility, and coherence between the specialties of the design, specification of materials and equipment, and technical norms of the subject areas;
- Analysis of the Construction Methods and their coherence with the market, technology, and the needs for complying to costs and deadlines;
- Elaboration of a conclusive report of the critical analyses;
- Analysis of the Budget as prepared by the responsible party.
PLANNING (OF THE PRE-WORKS, WORKS, AND POST-WORKS STAGES), AND SUPPORT GIVEN TOWARDS THE WORKS’ BIDDING PROCESS
- Elaboration of a macro planning of the project, including the technical documents, surveys and budget worksheet, information and technical/administrative restrictions, local logistics, as well as the resources and interdependence between the activities, and the complexities brought forward by properties classed as ‘historical heritage’ (Pre-Works Stage);
- Analysis of the detailed planning of the works as prepared by the contractor, indicating the critical paths of the project and of the execution of the works, as well as the methodology for measuring the performance and the tendencies (Works Stage);
- Analyze the equalization of proposals received and provide support to the client in the negotiation stage for hiring the company responsible for executing the works;
- Include the actual construction work in the monthly presentation of the services schedule and suggest, as necessary, a new planning of the works programming, the increase of resources, any alterations required in the sequence to correct the paths, and the realignment of the overall planning;
- Maintain control of the timeframe/production, costs and quality;
- Technical and administrative services;
- Post-works services (“As built” for all the disciplines).
