The Santuário Nossa Senhora de Fátima – Sumaré Station, pertaining to Line 2 – Verde of the São Paulo Metro, is an elevated metro station located under the Dr. Arnaldo avenue’s viaduct, which crosses above the Paulo VI avenue. Its built area has 5,890m² of pre-stressed concrete, has 97.5 m extension, and open trench-type stretches at the heads (Clínicas’ side and Vila Madalena’s side), as well as four ramp-type accesses and stairways totaling 350 m extension.
The Operating Rooms are located at the mezzanine’s prolongation and the Technical Rooms under the station’s platform, located on the Vila Madalena side and on part of the Clinicas’ side. Part of them were built under the Dr. Arnaldo viaduct and are fully enclosed and encrusted into the 20 m high embankment that goes up from the Paulo VI avenue to the Dr. Arnaldo avenue.
Inaugurated in 1998, it has a bold architectural design with glass panes and bare concrete, well combined with the artistic design of Alexandre Fleming; Together they form a unique metro station that incorporates engineering strength with architectural lightness and artistic sensitivity.
